This indicator details the greenhouse gas emissions from (i) forestry and logging, and (ii) wood, pulp, paper, and printing. This information is useful when considering the full range of climate change impacts associated with the forestry industry (i.e. both sinks and sources of carbon and other greenhouse gases).
An increase in greenhouse gas emissions strengthen the ‘greenhouse effect’ and thus lead to global warming. Global warming may increase the incidence of desertification, sea level rise, and stronger, more extreme storm events – each with the potential to affect forest growth and management, and other forestry operations.
